These etchings have the greatness and the tragic vigor of the letters themselves. A woman's heart burns and bleeds, and the chisel and acid burn likewise the metal. Human feeling is expressed in the features of the face and the features of the work. Such concordance is in itself a masterpiece of art, understanding, twin emotion.
